Bobbi first arrived on the beauty scene in 1991 with the launch of Bobbi Brown Essentials, and changed the face of cosmetics with ten brown-based lipstick shades, created to fill a void in the market of simple, flattering and wearable makeup. Bobbi’s philosophy was simple: "Women want to look and feel like themselves, only prettier and more confident." Her unique approach was a gift for women who wanted a more natural look, and in 1995 the company was acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies.
Bobbi's unique approach to beauty and her ability to translate the latest trends into wearable, real life looks has made her a sought-after expert on television, in magazines and newspapers, and online. She is Beauty & Lifestyle Editor of Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, a nationally syndicated morning radio show, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Yahoo! Beauty for two years, in addition to being the Contributing Beauty & Lifestyle Editor of Health magazine for three years. Bobbi’s message and products resonate with diverse audiences, and she has appeared on national shows including Good Morning America, The Today Show, Oprah, and The View. As a New York Times best-selling author, Bobbi has written eight instructional and engaging beauty and lifestyle books, with the ninth due to publish in Spring 2017. She continues to work editorially and is a permanent fixture backstage at New York Fashion Week, working with several of the industry’s most influential designers. In 2013, Bobbi launched an eyewear collection with Safilo, translating her beauty expertise to eyewear to teach women how to select frames that enhance their natural beauty and complement their skin tones and personal style.
Born in Chicago and a graduate of Emerson College, Bobbi’s entrepreneurial impact extends beyond fashion and beauty. She has been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, received honorary doctorates from Montclair State University, Fashion Institute of Technology and Emerson College, was appointed by President Obama to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiation, and has received the Glamour Woman of the Year Award.
Bobbi’s message remains the same today as it was when she launched in 1991: "The secret to beauty is simple—be who you are.”
