Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)

The human relations and public policy agency of the Jewish Federation. Its constituents are nearly all of the Jewish and religious social welfare and fraternal organizations in the tri-county region. The Goodwin Holocaust Museum and Education Center (GHMEC) is a department of the JCRC. BookMates, an early childhood reading-mentoring program for disadvantaged children, is its major social justice project. The JCRC, in partnership with the Diocese of Camden, created the Catholic-Jewish Commission of Southern NJ, which operates the Catholic-Jewish Institute of Understanding (an adult education program). The JCRC promotes understanding and support for Israel; fosters interfaith relations and international human rights; seeks to combat anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, and abuses of civil rights; and teaches the history and lessons of the Holocaust. It maintains a Speakers’ Bureau on Israel, the Holocaust, and other subjects.
